Jangipur by-election; Congress has somehow saved its face.

Otherwise it’s a mere by election  but the ‘Jangipur Parliamentary Constituency’ gained focus because the seat became vacant as Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, the then Finance Minister of UPA Govt now the President of India, resigned for contesting the Presidential Election and later on his son Abhijit Mukherjee has become the candidate of the ruling party. Political analyzers have another point also to look into, the impact of decisions of reforms taken by UPA Government and the recent political developments among UPA on the voters. The election result somehow saves the face of Congress but it will not give them any relief as in the recent opinion surveys conducted by few media shows that the popularity of Congress is declining.

Param Padma, Made in India Supercomputer
Param Padma, Made in India Supercomputer
Recently there has been news in media that India is planning to build a Supercomputer by 2017 that will be 61 times faster than the fastest of today. The fastest Supercomputer of today is IBMs ‘Sequoia’ with ‘peak performance’ speed 16.32 PetaFLOPS which is at ‘Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’, USA. If the goal is achieved India will be quite ahead of the time because it’s a trend that the speed of supercomputer gets doubled at an average of every 14 months and by that trend we can expect the speed of

Saina Newhal, the richest sports-woman in India

Saina Nehwal
Saina Nehwal
If it is said that an Indian sportsperson has made a Contract with a company of Rs.40 core for three years, the listener will assume that obviously he is an Indian Cricketer. But this time this assumption is wrong. It’s Saina Nehwal, the badminton queen of India. The bronze winner of London Olympic, 2012 has signed a three-year, Rs 40 crore, contract with the sports management firm Rhiti Sports. It is good to see that a non-cricketer in India is getting such assignment.

"I'm happy and looking forward to start a working relationship with Rhiti. With Rhiti's background and credibility, they know how to balance things and that is a big plus point," Saina was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

It can now be easily said that Saina Nehwas is the richest woman sportsperson in India.

Mamata quits UPA 2

The second largest party of UPA 2 coalition Government, AITC withdraws its support over Dr. Manmohan Singh Government. To day the Trinamool Congress supremo and the Chief Minister of West Bengal today has declared before the media after the internal party meeting of AITC that the Central Ministers of AITC will submit their resignation before 'honourable' Prime Minister at New Delhi on  Friday afternoon. Earlier Mamata Banerjee gave an ultimatum of 72 hours to the Central Government to roll back from their decision of raising the prices of Diesel and domestic LPG and also allowing 51% FDI in retail sector. In her speech she severely criticises  the Government led by Dr. Manmohan Singh.

P V Sindhu, the rising badminton star of India.

P V Sindhu
P V Sindhu
If Saina Nehwal could do in Olympic what P. V. Sindhu has done on last Friday she could have won her dream, the Gold medal.  P.V. Sindhu, the teenage shuttler girl from Hyderabad defeated Olympic champion Li Xuerui in the quarterfinals of a tournament at Changzhou in China. In the match Sindhu showed excellent temperament and fighting spirit and made the much experienced opponent bowed before her.  It is interesting that both Saina and Sindhu are from Hyderabad and their coach is also same Pullela Gopichand. If she can maintain the level of her performance we will get another star of badminton in India beside Saina Nehwa.

Indian Cuisine; temptation irresistable.

Modern Indian Cuisine is an adorable cuisine almost all over the world. But it has not reached its present position in a day. There is a long history of it. The geographical position of India has also played a responsible role behind its development. I wish to write quite a few articles on Modern Indian Cuisine and the present one is an introduction of that. Your criticism is what I require for inspiration.

I fell into a great confusion when I first learned that our tongue can only differentiate four tastes; salt, sour, bitter and sweet. The reason of confusion was quite simple; what we call as the taste of a food cannot be explained by these four tastes only, there must be some extras. Later on, I learned that our noses take a vital role in taking the taste of foods. That’s why we fail to take the taste of foods when our noses get clogged in cold. Now it’s quite clear that it’s the aroma or fragrance or smell that constitutes the main part of what we mean by the taste of a delicacy.

Mary Kom, the Boxer, and Olympic, 2016

The title of this post may create confusion, but there is no error in it. Yes, I am talking about Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom and the Olympic to be held in ‘Rio de Janeiro’ from 5th August 2016 to 21st August 2016.  As published in different media Mary Kom herself aspires to participate in the Rio Olympic and win a medal for India. If it happens that will be a grand event and proper justification of her name, ‘Magnificent Mary’. But let us consider the odds Mary has to face.

Indian Cricket team selection

Performance is not the only criteria to be selected in the Indian cricket team; it requires something extra, lobby, godfather and luck. This fact is almost known to all but performance is not a criteria is quite new idea about Indian cricket. The application of this idea is seen in the recent team selection.Just look at the performance chart of the three competitors and keep in mind that selectors have chosen S. Badrinath. What to say?!

Mary Kom, the new Sports Icon of India.

Once I had seen a Bengali film ‘Koni’. The film was about the struggle of a swimmer, Koni, against several odds. A dialogue, “Fight! Koni, Fight!”, was used quite a few times in the film almost as a theme dialogue.
No, this article is not about the film ‘Koni’, it’s about M.C. Mary Kom, the new sports icon of India. But there is a similarity of the life of Mary Kom with the film ‘Koni’ and the similarity lies in the theme dialogue of the film, ‘Fight! Mary Kom, Fight!”
